Michigan and Wisconsin Earn Big Ten Men’s Tennis Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Michigan senior Patorn Hanchaikul was named Player of the Week and Wisconsin freshman Edouard Aubert chosen Freshman of the Week as the Big Ten Conference announced its weekly men’s tennis awards on Wednesday. The honors cover matches played Jan. 6-12, marking the start of the second half of the 2024-25 college tennis season.

Sr. – Bangkok, Thailand — Shrewsbury International

• Helped No. 25 Michigan to a 7-0 win over Ball State in a season-opening dual held Jan. 11 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
• Earned straight-set wins in singles and doubles, finishing with an 18-2 advantage in games won
• Defeated Jenson Bicanic, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and teamed with Benjamin Kittay to defeat Ian Brady and Petar Petrovic, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles
• The two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection earns his first Player of the Week award

Freshman of the Week
Edouard Aubert, Wisconsin
Fr. – Geneva, Switzerland — Madame De Staël

• Finished 5-0 overall (3-0 singles, 2-0 doubles) at the FAU Invitational, held Jan. 10-12 in Boca Raton, Fla.
• Participating in a hidden dual format, recorded singles wins over Shingo Masuda (Mercer), Segundo Goity Zapico (Florida Atlantic) and Alan Ton (Army)
• Won a pair of doubles matches with two different partners — Patrik Meszaros and Tomas Zlatohlavek
• Becomes the first-ever recipient of the Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award, which was instituted by the conference at the end of the fall campaign
• Last Wisconsin player to win a Big Ten weekly award: Gabriel Huber (Feb. 2, 2021)
