Ohio State Claims Big Ten Men’s Tennis Award

Buckeyes’ Stearns goes undefeated at Notre Dame tournament

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Ohio State sophomore Preston Stearns has been named Big Ten Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the period covering Oct. 31-Nov. 3.

  • Finished with a combined record of 8-0 at the Notre Dame Mini Duals, held Nov. 1-3 at the Eck Tennis Pavilion
  • Playing under a format that combined singles and doubles results, Stearns teamed with Brandon Carpico to capture the tournament title, navigating through an 11-team field that included six Big Ten schools
  • Lost just one set in going 4-0 in singles, highlighted by a 1-6, 6-4 (10-3) win over Louisville’s Kosuke Nakanishi in the championship-clinching match
  • Went 4-0 in doubles, posting wins over Northwestern, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Louisville
  • Secures first Big Ten Player of the Week award of his career
