UCLA Collects Big Ten Weekly Tennis Award
ROSEMONT, Ill. – UCLA sophomore Spencer Johnson has been named Big Ten Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the period covering Oct. 16-22.

- Won the singles title at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, held Oct. 17-22, in Tempe, Ariz.
- Earned a berth into the NCAA Singles Championship, to be held next month in Waco, Texas
- Posted a 6-0 record over a five-day span; did not drop a set and won all three tiebreakers played
- Defeated No. 121-ranked Noah Zamora of UC Irvine, 6-2, 6-3, in the championship match following a 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) win over No. 91 Savriyan Danilov of San Diego in the semifinals
- Teamed with Emon van Loben Sels to reach the quarterfinals in doubles, finishing the tournament with an 8-1 record overall
- Ranked 55th in singles and 77th in doubles in the ITA Rankings
- Becomes UCLA’s first-ever recipient of the Big Ten Men’s Player of the Week Award
