Three Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

ROSEMONT, Ill. – At least five Big Ten teams will be represented at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championships following results at NCAA Regionals held around the country on Friday. The top two teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team at each regional earned automatic berths to the NCAA Championships, which will take place Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis.

Three Big Ten programs finished in the top two of their respective 10K regional championships and earned automatic berths on Friday. Washington won the West Regional with 66 points behind a pair of top-10 finishers in Nathan Green (7th - 29:12.0) and Evan Jenkins (9th - 29:14.4). Oregon came in second in the West Regional behind the Huskies with 68 points.

Big Ten champion Wisconsin scored 82 points to place second in the Great Lakes Regional. The team had five runners finish in the top 20.

Individually, Penn State’s Brian DiCola placed fourth (29:37.1) in the Mid-Atlantic Region and Purdue’s Douglas Buckeridge came in second (29:12.9) in the Great Lakes Region to secure spots in Madison.

Along with Friday’s automatic qualifiers, an additional 13 teams and two individual participants will be chosen by the NCAA Division I Track and Field and Cross Country Committee through an at-large selection process. The full field for the 2024 NCAA Championships will be announced during the NCAA selection show at 5 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, live on NCAA.com.
